Sure! Hello there, I'm Danny.
I'm a UK based stereotype. See there, beside where it says 'starving artist'? The one wearing too much black and staring off into the middle distance? That's me.
I'm a writer and a photographer. Welcome to my world.
'What do you write about?'
I get that question a lot. I've never come up with a nice, tidy answer to it. I don't have a favourite genre, exactly. If something interests me, I'll write about it.
It used to be mostly short stories and rants, poems, streams of consciousness... You get the idea. But then I moved to the county of Cornwall and things changed. It’s magical here, and I think when you’re surrounded by the magical it’s impossible not to be influenced by it. So now most of my work deals with the supernatural in some form or another.
‘What are you currently working on?’
I’ve just published my first book ‘Shade of Dean ~ Everyone has Demons’. It’s in two parts and it’s the first of a planned series of novels, novellas, novelettes and short stories. I’ve also written ‘Shade of Dean ~ Love at First Sight’ which is novelette length, and available for free via email.
The series is about a vampire called Shade, who works as a private investigator. It’s a mix of his life, his friends’ lives, and the cases he works on. It’s LGBTQ+ fiction. Shade is the main focus, but during the process of writing ‘Everyone has Demons’ I decided that many of the other characters were too interesting to be merely a ‘supporting cast’, so some of the shorter stories are about them.
‘What can we expect from you next?’
I’ve got 2 trilogies planned. One is a mix of historic and modern day fantasy, the other is pure fantasy. I’m excited about them both, but I’m not a particularly fast writer, so I don’t expect them to be out for a while. And of course I’ll be adding to the ‘Shade of Dean’ series as I work on them, because I’m not ready to leave Shade’s world behind just yet.
